Start with what you remember

If you forgot to stop a feeding timer, you're not alone. Before you change the entry, think about what you know. Do you remember when the feed ended, or only that it ended before another event?

A timer left running records elapsed time, not proof that your baby was feeding for all of it. Don't treat that long number as a feeding fact. The aim is to make the note clearer, not to hide a mistake.

Don't invent an exact finish

Here's a made-up example: a feed began at 4:10 PM and you know it ended at 4:30 PM. You noticed the running timer at 5:00 PM. The known finish belongs in the record, not the time you noticed the mistake.

If all you remember is 'before 5:00,' keep that uncertainty in a note. Don't choose 4:30 just because it looks tidy. If the form requires an exact time, don't silently turn a guess into a fact; keep the correction clear in a note or ask for help.

Check the right record

In Swaddlely, open History and find the entry you meant to change. Check the child, date, and type of feed first. Read the nearby entries so you don't change a different feed by mistake.

After saving, look at the entry again. Make sure the end isn't before the start and that the date is right. If another person added a note, ask them before removing what might be a separate event.

Leave a short note for your helper

A note such as 'I forgot to stop the timer; finish time is approximate' can help the next person understand the change. You don't need a long explanation.

Then move on with your day. The record should help your household remember care, not add another reason to feel bad on a busy day.

The baby care log guide explains how start times, finish times and late notes differ.

For everyday entries, use the examples in our newborn feeding log guide.
