Write the one thing that matters

A useful baby-care note can be just one or two lines. Start with what happened or what you need to ask. You don't have to recap the whole day each time your partner walks into the room.

For example, 'I added the last diaper change' is clearer than 'Everything is updated.' It says which part of the record you mean without making the other person guess.

Separate a note from a request

A note shares something: 'The spare clothes are in the blue bag.' A request asks for help: 'Can you refill the spare clothes bag?' Both can be useful, but they do different jobs.

If you need an answer soon, say so and check that your partner heard you. Don't rely on a saved note being read right away. Posting a note doesn't mean someone else has taken over care.

Make questions easy to answer

Instead of 'What happened earlier?' try 'Did you add the feed before you left?' A clear question is easier to answer when both of you have a lot on your minds.

Keep the wording kind. 'I can't find the last note' leaves room for a missed tap or a mix-up. 'You never log anything' turns a small record problem into a much bigger conversation.

Keep shared notes in one place

Use a notebook or shared household space for the notes both of you need. In Swaddlely, household notes can sit alongside shared care records. Choose what belongs there and keep private thoughts somewhere separate.

Try the same simple format for a day: what happened, what I need to ask, and anything time-sensitive. Drop parts that don't help. The notes should make it easier to care together, not feel like homework.

For accounts and handoffs, use the shared baby tracker guide; leaving a note is not the same as taking over care.

For tonight, agree on overnight responsibilities directly rather than relying on a quiet message.
